A Bay Shore woman has pleaded guilty to manslaughter for fatally stabbing her former boyfriend after following him from the Bay Shore train station in May 2025, Suffolk County prosecutors said.
Nikeya Barker, 46, pleaded guilty Monday, Oct. 5, to first-degree manslaughter in the death of 47-year-old Shurvell Rush of Central Islip.
According to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, Barker confronted Rush shortly after 6:30 p.m. on May 3, 2025, at the Bay Shore train station about an incident from their prior relationship. Prosecutors said the two had previously dated but were no longer in a relationship at the time.
Barker then followed Rush through the station parking lot toward a nearby townhouse complex while carrying a large knife, prosecutors said.
She stabbed Rush in the parking lot on Railroad Plaza, according to prosecutors.
Surveillance video captured Barker discarding the knife in bushes near the scene and fleeing, prosecutors said. Police later recovered the knife, and forensic testing found Barker’s DNA on the weapon.
Rush was taken to South Shore University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead from the stab wound.
