A worker was killed Monday afternoon after a truck he was working on rolled over him at a Hicksville automotive service business, Nassau County police said.
Officers responded to Gabrielli Truck Sales and Service at 880 South Oyster Bay Road at 2:52 p.m. on Sept. 7 after receiving a report of an injured man, according to the Nassau County Police Department.
Police said the victim had been working on a truck when it rolled over him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Hicksville Fire Department Dispatcher Chris Mercadante told Newsday that the truck apparently backed over the worker while he was working on it.
The victim’s identity has not been released.
Police said no criminality is suspected, although the investigation remains ongoing.
A spokesperson for the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration told Newsday that OSHA has also opened an investigation into the worker’s death.
