A Copiague man is facing felony charges after Nassau County police said he stabbed another man during an argument at a Levittown residence.
According to detectives, the incident occurred on June 4 at approximately 5 p.m. at a home on Haven Lane in Levittown.
Police said David McCarthy, 41, became involved in a verbal dispute with a 28-year-old man at the residence. The argument escalated and McCarthy allegedly stabbed the victim in the leg with a knife, causing a severe laceration.
Authorities said McCarthy fled the scene before officers arrived.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment. No other injuries were reported.
Following an investigation, detectives located McCarthy and arrested him without incident later that day.
McCarthy was arraigned in Nassau County District Court on charges of Assault in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree. Court records show he pleaded not guilty.
Judge Michael W. Alpert set bail at $25,000 cash, $50,000 insured bond, or $125,000 partially secured surety bond. A temporary order of protection was also issued during the arraignment.
McCarthy is scheduled to return to court on June 9 before Judge Anthony William Paradiso in Nassau County District Court in Mineola.
