South Farmingdale Man Accused of Using Fake Police Lights Before Crash and Hit-and-Run

A South Farmingdale man is facing criminal charges after allegedly using flashing red and blue lights and multiple sirens while driving before causing a crash and fleeing the scene, Nassau County police said.

According to detectives, Thomas Luckscheiter, 56, was driving a 2023 Dodge RAM at the intersection of Linden Avenue and Main Street in South Farmingdale at approximately 10:35 p.m. on May 28.

Police said Luckscheiter was operating the vehicle aggressively and activated flashing red and blue lights while using multiple different sirens. During the incident, the Dodge RAM allegedly struck a 2009 Toyota Prius.

Authorities said Luckscheiter then left the scene without identifying himself.

A short time later, police located Luckscheiter and arrested him without incident.

Luckscheiter is charged with first-degree criminal impersonation, leaving the scene of an incident and second-degree reckless endangerment.

He was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear on June 15, 2026, at First District Court in Hempstead.
