ion\nDr. Sara E. Mason is an explorer of the tiny yet mighty world of nan
omaterials. For 12 years she was a professor at the University of Iowa\, t
eaching chemistry to thousands of students and co-authoring over 65 articl
es in scientific journals. In 2022\, her collaborative style of using theo
ry and modeling to tackle complex problems in nanoscience drew her to Broo
khaven National Laboratory\, where she now leads the Theory and Computatio
n Group in the Center for Functional Nanomaterials. The group is driving t
he use of cutting-edge computational methods\, including artificial intell
igence\, in the quest for discovering new materials in energy and technolo
gy. Sara is also a parent to two school-age kids\, enjoys hiking/biking\,
and has a strong passion for making science accessible to all.\n\n\nAbout
Science on Screen\n\n\nBrookhaven National Laboratory has partnered up wit
h the Huntington Cinema Arts Centre for its 2024 Science on Screen program
.\n\nScience on Screen creatively pairs screenings of classic\, cult\, and
documentary films with entertaining and compelling introductions and post
-screening discussions by notable figures from the world of science\, tech
nology\, and medicine\, particularly showcasing leaders from our strong sc
ientific community here on Long Island. Each film is used as a jumping off
point for the speaker to engage our audience and reveal current scientifi
c research or technological advances. The program is made possible by the
Coolidge Corner Theatre Foundation with major support from the Alfred P. S
 loan Foundation.\n\n\n\nhttps://bit.ly/3KvXiiE\n\n\n
